King's Lynn Festival successful 'Coffee concert'

Lynn News columnist Andy Tyler has praised the performances at the recent King’s Lynn Festival Coffee Concert.

All the elements which to me, makes for a successful recital, came together at the recent King’s Lynn Festival Coffee Concert given by Alessandro Ruisi, violin, and Dina Duisen, piano.

Two excellent works, Mozart’s, Violin Sonata in B Flat, K.454 and Schumann’s troubled and passionate sonata in A minor, Op.105, a work I didn’t know, were performed – and I am always delighted to encounter such a piece not previously known to me.

Clear, clean performances (but full of contrast and passion when necessary) was the order of the day and articulation was first rate.

Both the young performers, already with successful careers, will go from strength to strength no doubt.

The recital, which went by far too quickly for me, concluded with a popular encore with the audience, Cantabile by Paganini.

I have now heard Dina Duisen’s solo debut album, Mazurkas from Chopin to Adèes, which was recorded at King’s Place with the Grammy-award winning producer Andrew Keener.

Dina told me of her pride in this recording and I enjoyed the performances of the varied Mazurkas in excellent recorded sound.
